Never a dull moment

I got a call on Monday offering me a job on Tuesday and Wednesday.
It's a huge international company on a three day incentive tour in Iceland to build team spirit and to cheer up their employees. So yesterday, my role was an outdoors education post at Þingvellir: teaching them avalanche search with probes (long sticks that are poked down in the snow) - now there's team work!
And today is their last evening and they're in for a great evening with elf ladies and Iceland's strongest men at Skíðaskálinn.
Since I'm not among Iceland's strongest men, my role is to teach them vikivaki and other Icelandic traditional dances and afterwards I'll transform into an elf lady and will go around making rune predictions...
Yep... always fun being a guide...


Yesterday I had a job interview, or more precisely, a talent test. I applied for a job at NFS' newsdesk (the icelandic CNN) and yesterday they had this test for a few people.
It was an amazing race yesterday, to get back from Þingvellir in time for the test at eight pm. According to the program of the day we should have been back around 18:30, but this was quite an unreliable plan... Plus, this is Iceland in wintertime, so when the group was already late one of the cars went off the extremely icy road and it took some time to get it up again.
I had been wise enough to take a change of clothes with me, thanks to a sudden burst of insight in the morning. But it was still a great challenge to apply mascara in the Land Rover on the icy Mosfellsheiði on the way back...
I think I did allright on the test, it's just always hard to estimate the chances because I don't know the other people, anything about their background or how they did on the test. But at least it's good experience.
