One sleepless night spent on a plane and I'm back on my little, dark island.
Kids were ice skating on lakes, - trying to find something to do with elementary school teachers on strike for the last month.
When I woke up this morning winds had shifted, Reykjavik was covered by a thin sheet of white. A dark, cold morning with fresh snow: what could be more christmassy?
Unfortunately, temperatures were pushed above zero so the ice on the lake in the centre of Reykjavik is not secure today, just when I wanted to glide gracefully over the surface of an icy lake, white scarf flying in the light breeze, perfectly matching my skates...
Oh well, it will freeze again this winter, I suppose.
So I was in America, yes. That was fun. Did some touristy things and some non-touristy things. Museums and monuments were balanced out by pumpkin carving, parties and piano bars.
My top ten list includes (in no specific order): apple picking and pumpkin carving, road trips and hikes, night time photography, eating out at restaurants of varying quality, and most of all: the people I met, the good people of America.
I used to have prejudice against this nationality, I admit. But no more. So that's one thing I've achieved. Travelling is good, yes yes...
